About Me:

Hans Mertens, naturally was born as an artist. Since his childhood, Hans always set in the silent corner of his room to draw. At the primary school he often, loved to draw heroes such as Batman for his friends. With time, Hans has developed his skills at the school of arts in Netherlands and was graduated in 1991. Right after, Hans, was occupied in art classes for about 6 years where he developed his distinguish and outstanding style which is expressionism.

His work breathes the atmosphere of frescos. He literally, layers his paintings with mysteries based on a period of old legends. The invisible tales of classic mythology are shrouded behind the visible subjects. His work reveals a world of greater dimensions than ours where viewers can easily, be attracted to.

While keeping the tradition of mystery alive, his work has both classic and modern styles. This combination stimulates the fantasy of the beholder. Themes that repeatedly found in his work are: spiritual subjects, mythology and classic tales woven with poetry. His wholesome emotions are captured in his paintings and they often radiate a mysterious atmosphere.

In 2005, Hans started painting mainly, in abstracts style as of 'Crystal Cave' en 'No Black' . His acrylic paintings, on panels, capture vivid flowers and are a result of his affluent imagination. On December 17th, 2006 Hans was selected in the "The Ferrara-collective" which resulted in a collaboration of more than 25 international artists world-wide. In 2008, he was chosen as the first international artist to produce his paintings on silk.
