About Me:

My artistic journey has been multi-disciplinary and has seen much diversity. Other than my studio practice which has evolved and sometimes changed drastically, I have engaged in making videos and installations. Every turn offered immense possibilities, except that the next turn always seemed more interesting. In the process I have been discarding the acquaintance of the past in favour of an unknown future. Although change has been pivotal to my journey, the thread of continuity in these forays, however, has been in the choice of a voice – appropriate to the expression of my immediate concerns as a socially conscious being.

Mass circulation dailies have always impacted the way people perceive things. Journals and the electronic media have followed suit. What is considered newsworthy by many may not be considered so by the more discerning. Yet, the media has in many ways molded public sentiment and taste – becoming, by design, a tool for political and other machinations rather than remaining a vehicle for the dissemination of news.

Despite this knowledge, we have made newspapers a part of our daily ritual. The amount of information or misinformation overwhelms us into believing in the sanctity of the printed word.

All my various interests compliment each other and as a long-term endeavour, I have started to employ to ‘news’ among other things, as a tool for satirising the system and to explore the possibilities of how all my present artistic concerns and past experiences could converge as an idiom that would accommodate all my aesthetic and narrative needs.
