A team of restoration technicians worked on the Sistine Chapel ceiling. LIFE magazine covered it.

I was shocked that the LIFE cover was published about 45 degrees off the original orientation (Michelangelo painted wall paintings on the ceiling which have a distinct up and down, right and left orientation). They cleaned the soot from the paintings - that was shocking - as if the candle prayers of the faithful were not a part of the art giving it a holy patina. Worse even yet, so shocking it was almost unbearable for me; they filled in the cracks and fissures and disconnection between the hand of god and the hand of the first man.

Pigments are judged in permanence relative to each other, not in terms of years. What is a laboratory year? Are there windows or only controlled lights? Sunny days, shady days, days when the blinds are accidentally left open. Days when morning light reflects off windows across the street. What does “when kept indoors” mean?

Dave McKean and Neil Gaiman did a visual novel called "Signal to Noise". The super hero is an old film director dying of cancer. The artist and the author explored apocalypse, does an entire universe come to an end when one, relatively insignificant man, dies?

So I goes deep into my mind and seeks out dat "get-outa-here" disposition so common to my "hood" when we was punks.
