International Photography Contest "Europe and Asia - Dialogue of Cultures."

The aim of the contest is to invite photographers to express one of the main questions of the world - the relationships between European and Asian civilizations in the language of photography. The contest is held as a part of welcome of Eurasian mission in Yekaterinburg which is situated on the boarder between Europe and Asia and gives the opportunity to realize and accept Eurasian mission of Russia.

The contest time to the Meetings of the Council of Heads of The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states which will take place in the June of 2009 in Yekaterinburg.

ORGANIZERS, JURY AND PARTICIPANTS

The organizers of the International Photography Contest "Europe and Asia - Dialogue of Cultures" are The Photography Development Fund (Yekaterinburg), The Museum of Photography Metenkov House (the branch of The Museum of the History of Yekaterinburg). Professional and amateur photographers of any age, citizenship and residence, creative associations of photographers are invited to take part in the contest.

PRIZES

The Grand Prix of the International Photography Contest "Europe and Asia - Dialogue of Cultures" is 3.000 $.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY

Represented photos must to answer the main problem of the contest: Europe and Asia - Dialog of Cultures. Both single photos and series (from 2 to 5 photos) united by the one idea and composition are applied for the contest. In this case the series is treated as a single photo. The authors are not restricted in the choice of technical means to create a photo.

STAGES OF THE CONTEST

The first stage December 1, 2008 – March 20, 2009

Photos are applied on the web site of the contest www.photofond.ru till the 20-th of March 2009. The committee of the contest selects photos for the second stage. If a photo (series) passes into the second stage, the author gets invitation to take part in the exhibition of finalists. Any author can provide the committee with unlimited number of photos (series) but only one photo (series) can be represented on the exhibition of finalists.

The second stage March 20 - April 27, 2009

Printed photos without any restrictions in the printing technique are applied for the exhibition of finalists. The format of the photos shouldn't be more than 80x100 cm, if the photos are not agreeable to the standards they are exhibited in the figuration of author.

The printed photos should be sent at author's charge to 620000 Russia Yekaterinburg post/box 169 The Museum of Photography Metenkov House.

At author's will we can print the photos in Yekaterinburg at ZBE CHROMIRA 5x30 LAB without any correction of the file. The print will be paid by the organizers, this service is free for the author.

In the end of the contest the photos that are applied for the exhibition will not be returned to the authors, they will stay in the collection of the museum.

WORK OF JURY.

The exhibition of finalists of the contest will be arranged in the Museum of Photography on the 27-th of April 2009. During the work of jury all the authors will be marked with numbers without pointing the authors' names.

THE COPYRIGHT.

The copyright of photos belongs to the author. By sending photos to the contest "Europe and Asia - Dialogue of Cultures" the author allows the organizers to use the photos at any aims connected with organizing and advertising the contest. Public exhibition, publishing in catalogues, official press-releases and publishing on the web site of the contest will be marked with the name of the author. Sending photos to the contest means that you agree with all the terms mentioned above. At authors will the museum can negotiate an additional contract regulating the peculiarities of using photos.
