In an era in which academics and historians, critics and curators, publishers and writers, singers and songwriters and... musicians are considered to be artists what remains to be criticised? In an age when everyone is an artist and everything is art, nothing can possibly be wrong or incorrect with anything. It is all good.

i'm sorry Barry but to me a musician is not an artist but a musician, a songwriter is a poet but not an artist. A writer is a descriptive person that paints a picture with words that an artist sees in vision and puts it down on paper.

I don't agree with you. Not everyone sauing that he/she is an artist is really one. And not everything that's called art is really art. There is a lot of s... in what is called art now, because critics follow a certain trendy way of art. Museums are full of lousy so called "art", full of things meaning nothing to no one...Art has to be made with the heart the soul and the spirit and you have to feel that, when you look at it, when you listen to something. That's art!!

I agree with monika it must be made with heart soul and spirit and you have to feel that.

Lila This is a good painting, u have the X and the V but the x is prominent in this picu balance and frame the work with the dark colors. The only thing that i caint pinpoint is that there is somrthing with the dog that bothers me. Like i said its a good piece.

This is one topic i get into in bar, coffee houses and so called intelligent conversations with so called intelligent humanoids. What is Art? Who can really call themselfs artist? Is what they do called art? Is this a work of art?
Marcel Duchamp took care and answered a lot of questions with his readymades " The Urinal " The Snow Shovel. That being said it opened a can of worms as to what art is. I had a conversation with a digital artist and asked her if she could draw with her hands, she told me " I dont need to draw or need to be taught, i let the computor do that, i know what buttons to hit" And i say does that make u an artist? And i say , what if u were in the middle of the Gobi Dessert and ur computors battery ran out and u had an art project to do, than what?
I have this thing with photographers who call themselfs artist also, and i get into heated arguments all the time about it.I only consider 3 people who used photos as art Man Ray- Alfred Stigleitz- Mappelthorpe everybody else just takes pictures some do it better than others and yes that includes Ansel Adams! I tell them u are a photographer u are not an artist in my eyes, unless u can draw and also use a camera to do an art piece.I'll eliminate the Digital Artist and just say a digital person who says they do art pieces without the skill of drawing. I've been told as an abstract expressionist " U call this Art! " I tell them yes and yes i can draw and yes i can paint flowers and do landscapes and do portriats but it is not my passion, abstracts is my passion! End of Story!!!!!!!
